With the Care of a Vintner, Organic Orchards Cider Blended for Incredible Flavor

Gary and Judy Gottschalk have been growing apples and pears to produce cider near White Salmon, WA, for just shy of 30 years. Under the Organic Orchards label, Gary blends apple and pear juice with the skill of a winemaker. Using different combinations of fruit to produce exceptional flavor, the cider’s profile can change each week as varieties mature and become available.

“Organic Orchards produces an intrinsic cider that you won't experience elsewhere,” shares OGC Buyer Don Mayfield. “The experience of drinking it throughout the season is delightful.”

Currently, Organic Orchards is blending Honeycrisp, Swiss Gourmet, Shizuka, Senshu, Ruby Jon, Cortland and Zestar to compose their apple cider. Their pear-apple cider consists of Concorde and Honeycrisp.

Predominantly growing heirloom apples, the Gottschalks are also investing in new varieties like Cosmic Crisp. Flavor comes first, so if it’s a variety in Organic Orchard’s lineup, it must be good!
